Jackson&Levine is a joint venture from Laura Jackson and Alice Levine. Starting as a supperclub and now branching out into food journalism, publishing and styling.
We invited them to host a very festive Supper Club in our Men’s Store in Short’s Gardens before Christmas. Read on for a sneak peek behind the scenes as we talk to the girls and get some tips from the top.

What was the theme of this supper club?
We wanted to make the most of the interiors at the Cambridge Satchel Company Men’s store by creating an intimate Victorian gentlemen’s club atmosphere. This event was about thanking friends of the brand so we wanted it to feel special but informal.
Tell us a bit about the menu!
We wanted to curate a simple and delicious menu using seasonal produce with a nod to the festive period. And as Cambridge Satchel Company is a quintessentially British brand we wanted to reflect this with the dishes and the ingredients used. The menu had to be sumptious, packed with flavour and something new.
Who does what when it comes to planning an event? Do you have different strengths/skill sets or is it all very collaborative?
We get inspiration from anything and everything – we are constantly finding images online or whilst we’re out and about and sending them to each other. This is usually what kicks off our planning stage – moodboarding, brainstorming and thinking of flavours.
We work together because we compliment each other’s way of working. When one of us hits a creative wall the other one is there to plough forward.
A big part of what you do involves produce from local sellers and businesses. Do you think that adds to your supper club experience?
We think it’s really important to support independent local producers – not only is it environmentally beneficial to keep it local in terms food miles but you’re also going to find more unusual and exciting items that buying from more mainstream sources. Plus small makers will also be able to tell you what is in season and what great things to look out for in coming months and you can try before you buy! Helping local economies, a great ethical choice, expert advice – what’s not to love! It doesn’t get closer than Neal’s Yard Dairy – a neighbour of Cambridge Satchel Company – so we decided to weave a few of their ingredients into the menu – with beautiful crème fraiche, Tunworth and Stichelton sourced from here.
Oh, and while we have you here, which bag do you have your eye on and what will you be wearing it with this season?
Alice: For me it had to be the green tote – ideal for all the train traveling I’m doing, I can pop all of my essentials in there and not worrying about it overflowing. I’m going to team it with a sixties hair do and a big fur coat.
Laura: Brindle leather pocket tote in Burgundy: I’ve chosen this for myself as it’s a really classic shape, timeless, but modern and it’s the perfect size. It’s a great weekend bag, so is spot on for all of my busy weekends visiting family and friends.
