The Cambridge Satchel Company has teamed up with The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust to create a special, limited edition, collection of bags to celebrate excellence in British Craftsmanship and Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday. The collection has been handmade in England at The Cambridge Satchel Company factory in Leicester. We asked Scott Simpson, Head of Product at CSC and QEST Ambassador to talk us through the new collection and why it’s so important to us.
A Royal Moment: Our Founder & CEO Julie Deane meets Her Majesty The Queen in December 2014, after receiving her OBE for Services to Entrepreneurship.
“We are excited to launch our collaboration with the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) particularly as it coincides with the charity’s patron, Her Majesty The Queen’s, 90th birthday.
The collaboration is a perfect fit with Qest’s focus on excellence in British craftsmanship and The Cambridge Satchel Company’s passion for all things British. It is a natural fit given that our Founder, Julie Deane, is an Ambassador for the charity and our commitment to making our products in the United Kingdom wherever possible.
The collection has been beautifully created using saddle leather with an Oxblood colour base and Navy trims on each bag, and is finished with brass hardware and a gold foil embossed QEST and Cambridge Satchel logo. The QEST seal is placed on the front of each bag.
The saddle leather is vegetable tanned using traditional methods and using sustainable extracts. This leather has been specially selected for its high quality, smooth grain and its long-lasting resistance to outdoor elements meaning that it ages beautifully. It is a rich leather with a beautiful, natural appearance.
This special edition collection includes some of the most iconic styles created by the Cambridge Satchel Company including:
11 inch Classic Satchel – A smart, versatile and unisex bag.
13 inch Classic Satchel – A smart, versatile and unisex bag.
The Folio Bag – The Folio bag is smart, sleek and stylish. Perfect for A4 files, a lightweight laptop and a small electronic device.
Bridge Bar Closure Bag – The Bridge Closure bag welcomes a new fastening with a smart and sophisticated new look. Perfect for a 13” laptop or small electronic devices.
Binocular Case – The Binocular case is inspired by heritage binocular cases and HM The Queen’s love of horse racing. This bag is both a functional and stylish multi-purpose edition to the collection.”
