Our story

Cambridge Satchel began in 2008 as a small family venture with one aim: to make beautiful, hard-wearing leather bags that people keep for years. What started on a kitchen table has grown into a British brand sold in more than 120 countries, and many of the skilled artisans who shape our bags today have been with us since those early days.

Where and how our bags are made

Where and how our bags are made

Our structured leather bags, including our satchels, are handcrafted in England at our workshop in Leicestershire. Our soft leather styles are crafted by skilled artisans using the same care and eye for detail. Every bag is made by hand, stage by stage, which gives each one its character and lasting quality.

Our craft and the people behind it

Our craft and the people behind it

Our bags are shaped by skilled artisans who bring years of expertise to every piece, from cutting and stitching to the final checks. We are proud supporters of QEST, the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust, which helps train the next generation of craftspeople, so the skills behind our work continue.

Recognition

Recognition

Our work has travelled from a Leicestershire workshop to the world stage. We were featured in Google Chrome's ‘The Web is What You Make of It’ campaign, welcomed HRH King Charles III and Queen Camilla to our workshop, and our bags have been worn by Taylor Swift, Alexa Chung, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Built to last

Built to last

We design our bags to be repaired, not replaced. Our repairs service helps extend the life of every bag, and our leather is sustainably sourced as a byproduct of the food industry. It is part of why we hold a 4.7-star rating from over 11,800 certified reviews.
