Check It Out: A New Check Pattern Collaboration with Luxury Childrenswear Brand, Pepa & Co.

It’s time to go back to school! This week, many of your little ones will have gone back to the classroom, ready to take on a new year. Amidst all of the preparation and excitement, it could be that they are still using an old school bag that is becoming worn and flimsy, or which they have outgrown. 

Introducing The Cambridge Satchel Co. and Pepa & Co*. A new collection featuring two special edition bags, The Mini Bowls Bag in Oxblood Celtic Grain and The 13 Inch Batchel Backpack in Vintage. Both feature a Pepa & Co. new Autumn Check, made in 100% cotton, from its new season colour palette, and they match a new traditional coat made by Pepa & Co.

Designed with the ‘Mummy and Me’ look in mind, both bags can be worn by people of any age, but work especially well as bags that will last children a lifetime. When Pepa & Co. contacted us here at The Cambridge Satchel Co. back in January of this year, it was clear that their values of longevity, practicality and quality craftsmanship resonated perfectly with our own. 

Pepa and Co.’s story started with Spanish-born Pepa González, who, after spending three years working as a nanny in the UK, noticed a lack of businesses offering traditional and quintessentially British childrenswear compared to those in Malaga. Inspired by the clothes she wore as a child, she decided to start Pepa & Co.

It was only a matter of time until we collaborated with the brand. Our very first bags were based on the original school satchel, and our founder, Julie, started the business to raise money and provide her children with an excellent education. Now, we’re bringing our products back to their roots with a partnership aimed at children. After all, without them, there would be no school satchel! 

Blending our Makers’ expertise in leatherwork with Pepa and Co.'s emphasis on beautiful, quality slow fashion garments, our collaboration offers pieces that your child (and you!) will treasure forever. What is more special than something you can carry with you throughout your life?
