We were honoured to host Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this week on a visit to our factory in Syston, Leicestershire. The occasion was commemorated by the unveiling of a plaque, signing of the visitor’s book and presentation of gifts from The Cambridge Satchel Company.

A Cambridge Spring
This unusual February weather has everyone in a spring state of mind. And the best place to be in spring has to be Cambridge. Cherry blossoms bloom as their falling petals dance along the pavements, a purple haze of wisteria adorns the historic college walls, Mill Road locals vy for outdoor seating at the local coffee shop whilst basking in the sunshine and the punt tour guides are whistling a tune as they glide down the River Cam. Basically, the sun is out and people are happy!

Introducing the Doctors Bag The new Doctors Bag is a reimagining of the classic British design, the structured frame bag. Once affectionally known as the Doctors Bag. The Doctors bag evokes memories of Mary Poppins and the gas lantern lined streets of early 20th century London, and the delight of opening the frame bag to discover whimsical potions and lotions from local apothecaries of days gone by.
The day CSC met a herd of giraffes
If there is one animal we can all collectively say we love in the Cambridge Satchel office, that is giraffes. Therefore, it’s only appropriate that our latest collaboration is with The Aspinall Foundation, launching Monday 30th July, featuring 8 exclusive satchels bearing the beautiful print of the endangered Rothschild giraffe.

Last week we hosted London Craft Week at our Covent Garden store. From 9-13 May over 200 established and up-and-coming artists joined forces to celebrate British creativity across various London outlets. For the Cambridge Satchel Company it was a coming together of supreme British craftmanship, teaming up with Hand & Lock, London’s premier embroidery house since 1767.
Out of Africa
We speak to our adventurous founder, Julie Deane, about her inspiration behind the new collection … As a little girl in South Wales, I would dream of a great adventure. To me that adventure was Africa. To go on safari and explore the vast African landscape, to breathe the same air as the leopards and giraffes that wander the plains.

Although the weather has proven otherwise, it’s now May and we are officially over this cold spring (you heard it here first)! We are thrilled to announce our latest collaboration for 2018; CSC x Ines de la Fressange. Just in case you’re not familiar with Ines: she is the original French style icon (her book ‘Parisian Chic’ is the last word in what’s cool in Paris), muse to Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel, and our ultimate style crush. In fact, Julie is such a long-time fan of Ines that at university, she had two posters on her wall: one was a picture of a horse, and the other was of Ines for Chanel!

I don’t know why we started doing it. I think I had a sudden hankering for Christmas decadence, the year I moved to London after university. December had been awash with early twenty-something festive cheer – Christmas jumper parties at flats in Kennington shared by six housemates; evenings spent wearing something scratchy and sequinned and acrylic bought at a charity shop for 99p in a rush that afternoon.
