The Mini Satchel 101

There’s something undeniably charming about a bag in miniature. The Mini Satchel takes everything recognisable about the classic Cambridge Satchel, from the buckles and structured shape to its British character and scales it down to a size made for travelling light.

It’s the sort of bag that comes into its own when you’re dashing out of the door and don’t fancy bringing half the house with you. There’s room for the essentials, without all that extra space tempting you to fill it with things you definitely don’t need. With both a top handle and shoulder strap, you can carry it whichever way you fancy.

Like all our bags, the Mini Satchel is handcrafted in England at our workshop, using sustainably sourced leather and traditional techniques. Its design has its roots in the classic school satchels carried by generations of British students.

Part of the fun of the Mini is how much personality can be packed into such a compact design. A touch of embossing, from initials to a name, makes it unmistakably yours. And when it comes to making the Mini even more personal, we may have a few ideas up our sleeve… watch this space.

It’s also become something of a favourite canvas for our designers. The Mini returns collection after collection, reimagined in new colours, finishes and collaborations. Hello Kitty, Wicked and Miffy have all had their turn, bringing with them some particularly fun and very cute additions.

Through all its different guises, the Mini has become a little piece of Cambridge Satchel history with a charm all of its own.
